THE VISIT TO THE MOSQUE OF THE PROPHET
The Prophet constantly recommended visiting three mosques:
the Holy Temple (the Ka'ba) in Mecca, his own Mosque in Medina, and the Masjid
al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
At the end of the Hagg rites, the pilgrim will do well to go
to the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, endowed with five minarets and a green dome
placed on the tomb of the Envoy of God.
When you enter this mosque, you must remember everything you
know about the glorious acts of the Prophet and his spiritual guidelines. You
must remember that it was in this mosque that the Prophet taught the Muslims
the principles of their faith, inculcating the rules of fraternity, justice and
equality.
When entering it the pilgrim must make two prostrations and
go to the tomb of the Prophet, who will greet with these words:
'' May the peace of God be upon you, Messenger of God, I
swear that there is no other god but; God and that you are his Prophet.
"
It is to be hoped that the visitor will turn a little
towards the east, in order to greet the tombs of the Khalifah Abu Bakr and Omar
lbn Al Jattab.
With this visit, the pilgrim's sense of devotion is enhanced
by the memory of the glories of Islam. In that sense, this mosque serves as a
source of inspiration for Muslims around the world.
