Purpose and importance
The main purpose of prayer in Islam is to act as a person to
communicate with God. By reciting "The Opening," the first chapter of
the Qur'an, as is required in every prayer, the believer can stand before God,
thank and praise Him, and ask for guidance along the right path.
In addition, daily prayers remind Muslims to give thanks for
the blessings of God and that Islam takes precedence over any other
consideration, which turns their life around God and submit to their will.
Prayer also serves as a formal method of remembering Allah, or dhikr.
In the Quran it is written that: "The true believers
are those who feel fear in their hearts when God is mentioned and when their
revelations are recited to them, they find their faith strengthened. They do
everything possible and put , your trust in your Lord. "[Qur'an 8: 2]
" For those whose hearts, when God is mentioned, are
filled with fear, showing the patient's perseverance in their afflictions,
keeping regular prayer, and passing (in the charity) of what we have made
descend upon them. " [Quran 22:35]
Prayer is also cited as a means of containing a believer
from social evils and moral deviation. [Quran 29:45] According to a hadith in
the Sahih Bukhari collection, the Prophet Mohammed considered salah "the
best action"
